Introduction

Welcome to the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA).

The principal aim of the ISEA is to act as a forum to discuss technical issues relating to sport. The Association also aims to act as the interface between those carrying out research in sports engineering related topics and the sport and leisure industry.

Comments from the President

Professor Mont Hubbard, University of California, Davis, USA

The ISEA is entering it’s tenth year and is maturing as a professional organization. Its mission is to act as a forum for discussion of technical and scientific issues in sports and sport technology for those involved in research and development in the field. ISEA members come from a wide range of disciplines from engineering to sports science, from research organizations, universities and relevant industries world-wide.

ISEA sponsors a biennial technical conference. The next in the series will be held in Biarritz on the Southwestern coast of France in early June 2008 and promises to be the largest and most successful so far. Please visit the conference website to learn about and register for the conference. We hope to see you there.

The other major information dissemination activity of the ISEA is the international journal, Sports Engineering. Now in its 11th year, Sports Engineering is one of the leading scholarly journals in the field.

As of 2008, our journal will begin to be published by Springer. In addition to discounted registration for ISEA conferences and a free subscription to our journal, we also offer our members a useful range of other benefits including a comprehensive web site and a useful research reference database. We would welcome your membership.
